When the Going Gets Tough

John 1:5
And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
Over the past few years, I have been indulging myself on watching the evening news. Especially when national and international events are happening, like the war in Gaza. However, my time spent gazing into the latest breaking news has diminished some. Mostly out of frustration as to how corrupt and evil has been so prevalent lately. In addition, my frustration grows in the lack of proper response to these cataclysmic acts.
You cannot tune into the local or national news outlets without hearing of another murder, another airstrike or ground battle, another injustice, or another scandal in politics. It rings familiar as in the Motown hit of the 60's girl group, The Shirelles, "Mama Said." One of the main lyrics goes, "Mama said there'd be days like this."
It comes to me as no surprise the way the world is growing ever darker by the day. I believe I read this somewhere... Oh yeah! The Bible!!
I think this world needs to stop and remove the veil from their eyes that will cause it to perish. (Yep! that's in the Bible too!) I know we all have been catapulted into the end times. But how much longer is God going to permit this world to go much further into darkness before He sends His Son, Jesus back to restore things and make all things new?
By my calculations, it's been well over 2 millennium since we were exposed to the prophecy of the Messiah's return. How many more news reports of evil breaking out do we have to endure before God says, "Enough?"
In a way, I am glad I don't know the day or hour. It is God's way of preserving His children for that day - in as much as I struggle comprehending it. Until then, we will have to just endure the tough times that are now at hand, and the tougher times still to come - trusting God all the way. For once Christ sets His foot back on earth, the whole world is going to know it and it will be changed for the better - forever.
In order to be spared of the mayhem and chaos that is and is still to come, it will require you to submit to the Lordship of Jesus and receive Him as Lord and Savior. He paid the price for your sins, which demands death and eternal separation from God. His outstretched arms and feet were nailed to a cross of a Roman crucifixion for all mankind as a satisfactory sin offering, His last breath secured that hope for all of us who believe He is the Son of God who died and rose again, and is the One who is coming back to judge the living and the dead one day.
Each passing tick of the clock is drawing us that much closer to the Day of the Lord. In the meantime, we will have to endure more hardships and tough times until then. But living in denial only keeps you further away from God's protection. Putting off your salvation until you get things right in your life will never happen.
So, the question is, are your ready for Him? Better yet, are you ready to believe in your heart, and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord of your life? My bible says that if you do, He will save you (Romans 10:10-13) from the Hell you deserve.
Your servant in Christ,
Tom
