What's This World Coming To?

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12

The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, 10 and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, 12 in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

I was watching Fox News last night and tuned into the Jesse Waters Primetime Show. Aside from the usual political and other newsworthy stories, came this one about smoking toad venom as a new drug of choice that is becoming more popular. I must admit, when I saw this, I watched with both curiosity and disgust.

What I witnessed were people administering this toxic drug taken from venom secretion of the Bufo Alvarius Toad, and formed into a crystal base, then smoked by a willing client. What came next was nothing short of demonic forces at work secretly disguised as some form of euphoric therapy.

People were reacting to this drug like many do in the Pentecostal charismatic movement, when they are ‘slain in the spirit’, as they writhe, babble, and contort, as if they lost all control of their minds and bodies.

The people who were administering this concoction appeared to be throwbacks to the hippie generation, wearing robes and beads. Their speech was like those days of flower power, peace and love. Far out… yeah, really far out there!

During the interview by Jesse Waters a lady who runs this retreat center, claims that this euphoric feeling has given her confirmation that she is a god and partaker of creation and creator. (See video and article: https://video.foxnews.com/v/6303870416001). If that doesn’t raise a red flag, let alone the hairs on the back of your neck, then I don’t know what does.

What is happening here?

Has this world returned to the former days where anything goes? Or has it been that way so long, that this is just another chapter in the devil’s handbook to ruin this world?

Paul warned the churches that days like what we are seeing were coming and many will ignore the signs and live life – business as usual – carefree, refusing to love the truth about the gospel and its power to save, only to be given over to more deception and given a strong delusion to believe what is false, thereby perishing in the pleasure of unrighteousness.

Should we be surprised at what we see and hear these days? No, we should expect it and expect more to follow as these days grow colder and darker the longer this world rejects God.

Our own nation is reeling from tragic events and there is no good news in sight. Many are hanging on the upcoming mid-term elections with a hope of real change to get us back to normal. But that’s only part of the solution. For some so-called conservatives are wolves in sheep clothing. Seeking power and fortune and will do anything or say anything to sway the masses.

What this nation desperately needs, and the world for that matter, is a strong Godly revelation and revival from God. Therefore the gospel must be preached, so God can and will do the saving. As we reflect and remember and celebrate this Resurrection Sunday, let’s pray that the gospel goes forth and God will change the hearts and minds of those who are deceiving and those being deceived.
