The Mercy of God

Psalm 13:5 (NKJV)

“But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.”

David’s words remind us that our hope is not found in what we deserve, but in the mercy of God. Because of our sin, we deserve condemnation and separation from a holy God, yet in His great love and mercy, He provided salvation through Jesus Christ. God does not give His children the judgment our sins deserve; instead, through faith in Christ, we receive forgiveness, grace, and eternal life. His mercy does not ignore our sin—it is satisfied through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Therefore, even in difficult seasons, we can rejoice because our salvation rests not upon our own goodness, but upon the unfailing mercy of God.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your great mercy toward me. I confess that I do not deserve Your forgiveness or salvation, yet You have shown me grace through Jesus Christ. Thank You for sparing me from the condemnation my sin deserves and for giving me the hope of eternal life. Help me to trust in Your mercy each day and to rejoice in the salvation You have freely given. May Your mercy also teach me to show grace and compassion to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
