A Perfect Fit

Romans 13:14

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

I do not necessarily enjoy shopping for clothes, even though it is necessary at times. My wife in particular, finds no joy in it at all - even though it is necessary at times.

One reason I don't really enjoy the prospect, is trying to find things that fit well. In the past, I have been to men's clothing stores to shop for a new suit. The clerks are always helpful to make sure what I select fits properly. But on the other hand, when I shop alone, I usually find something that's close enough, but not a perfect fit.

Going through life on your own is like shopping for something that will fit perfectly into your life. We may come close and, perhaps, very close to that perfect fit. But something is always missing and lacking. So, we keep shopping.

But when we stop at the foot of the cross of Christ, and look up and see Him for the first time, and by the message of the cross of the gospel of Jesus, our shopping days are over. Once we acknowledge Him as Lord and Savior, we come and put on a new set of clothes - the clothes of His righteousness. We are clothed in the humility, grace and mercy of Christ.

We in fact, put on Christ in our lives. To top it off - it is utterly and most assuredly, a perfect fit!
