Jesus, Where Are You?

Mark 4:35-41 (NKJV)

35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

In Mark 4:35-41, Jesus and His disciples encountered a great windstorm while crossing the sea, and Jesus was asleep in the stern of the boat while the others were panicking. Yet Jesus remained with them even as the waves threatened to overwhelm their boat. This passage reminds believers that God has us right where He wants us, even during the most difficult and uncertain seasons of life. Sometimes the Lord leads us into situations where our faith is tested, our fears are exposed, and our dependence on Him grows stronger. The presence of a storm does not mean we are outside of God's will, nor does His silence mean He has abandoned us. Just as Jesus demonstrated His authority over the wind and the sea, He remains sovereign over every circumstance we face. We may not understand why God allows certain trials, but we can trust that He is with us and that nothing is beyond His control. Rather than allowing fear to overcome us, we must learn to rest in His presence, trust His promises, and remember that even in the storm, we are never beyond His reach.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for being with me through every storm of life. Help me to trust Your wisdom when I do not understand my circumstances and to remember that You are always in control. Strengthen my faith when uncertainty fills my heart, and teach me to rest in Your presence rather than surrender to fear. Help me to trust that You have me right where You want me and that You will guide me according to Your perfect will. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your servant in Christ,

Tom
