James 1:12-14 (NKJV)

12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

Following Christ requires perseverance, self-discipline, and a willingness to turn away from sin, even when doing so brings hardships, struggles, or personal sacrifice. Temptation is a reality every believer faces, but we must remember that God does not tempt us to do evil; rather, temptation arises when we are drawn away by our own desires. We are responsible for resisting sin, guarding our hearts, and choosing obedience to God even when the world encourages us to compromise our convictions. There will be times when standing for righteousness costs us friendships, opportunities, comfort, or acceptance, but temporary pleasures and worldly approval are never worth sacrificing our fellowship with the Lord. James assures us that the one who endures temptation and remains faithful will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Therefore, let us stand firm in faith, rely on the strength of the Holy Spirit, and remember that our present struggles are temporary, but the eternal reward of remaining faithful to Christ is worth every sacrifice.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help me to recognize temptation and turn away from anything that would lead me into sin. Give me the strength to stand firm in Your Word when I face hardships, struggles, and pressure to compromise my faith. Forgive me when I allow my own desires to lead me astray, and teach me to depend on Your wisdom and the power of Your Holy Spirit. Remind me that the pleasures of sin are temporary, but the crown of life You have promised is eternal. Help me to endure faithfully, love You wholeheartedly, and honor You in every decision I make. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Your servant in Christ,

Tom
