The Secret to True Success in Life

Joshua 1:8 (NKJV)

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night… For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

When I think about true success, I have learned that it is much deeper than a title, promotion, award, or financial achievement. During my time recruiting in the Marine Corps, I learned that success was often found in the intangible things—discipline, perseverance, integrity, sacrifice, patience, commitment, and the ability to keep moving forward when the results were not immediate. Those lessons remind me of Joshua 1:8, where God teaches Joshua that true success begins with keeping His Word close, thinking on it daily, and allowing it to guide my decisions. The greatest success in my life is not simply what I accomplish, but who I become while walking faithfully with God. Just as military service taught me to remain disciplined and committed to a mission greater than myself, God calls me to live with the same devotion to His purpose. When I measure my life by faithfulness to God rather than by worldly accomplishments, I discover that true success is found in becoming the person He has called me to be.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help me understand that true success is not measured by what I gain, but by how faithfully I follow You. Thank You for the lessons You have taught me through my experiences, especially the discipline, perseverance, integrity, and commitment that have shaped my life. Help me apply those lessons to my walk with You. Keep Your Word in my heart and guide my decisions each day. May my greatest accomplishment be a life that honors You and faithfully serves Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
